Inlays & Onlays

Patients who have suffered from tooth decay or trauma to their teeth could be ideal candidates for an inlay or onlay to improve the aesthetic appearance of their smile, as well as to create a stronger tooth structure. Inlays and onlays are two types of tooth restorations treatments offered by the cosmetic dentist, Dr. Mojgan Fajiram. These may be suggested to you once a dental x-ray is taken and examination for tooth decay is performed – if the diagnostic image reveals that you have a cavity you may be an ideal candidate for a Porcelain inlay or onlay. An inlay is performed when there is no damage to the cusps of the tooth. Additionally, a porcelain inlay can be placed right on the tooth. An inlay is used when the damage is a little less extensive. Whereas, an onlay is used when there is more extensive damage to the tooth.
  • An inlay is a porcelain filling that can replace your old metal fillings and additionally be used to fill a cavity
  • A porcelain onlay covers a larger area of the tooth and is better suited for more extensive areas of coverage

On a scale of 1-10… She is 100.  I truly love her! ~ YELP
Porcelain Inlays & Onlays Years ago dentists were limited to using silver and gold for inlays and onlays. With the advancements in dental materials and technology, tooth-colored porcelain is now used to give a restored tooth a more natural look. The Benefits of Porcelain Inlays / Onlays vs Traditional Silver fillings
  • Beautiful aesthetic appearance
  • Better resistance to the forces exerted during chewing and biting
  • Better protection against recurring decay
  • A more precise and longer lasting fit
  • Inlays and onlays are strong, long-lasting porcelain fillings
